Investigation of the cause of loss for determining the claim/loss, negotiate settlements, and recommend payment considerations to client/client companies for the insured while being mindful, based on educational background/training, to apply the terms and conditions of the respective insurance policy.

Adjusters often must determine whether the insurance policy covers the loss and how it is applied thus determining how much of the claim can be paid.  Although many adjusters, (property appraisers) appraisers, and investigators have overlapping functions, they often may even perform the same tasks during the adjustment process.
