Appraisal/Estimating of Physical Damage & Resolutions
The appraisal/estimating of physical damage to property inclusive of but not limited to, assembling a reasonable determined scope of damage using geographic construction cost to complete a detailed cost analysis of repair to the property/risk often during adjusting. This type of property appraisal includes skilled knowledge of construction / construction nomenclature used for the concept of reserve/repair valuation and ultimately the settlement of the loss/claim. It can be administered in many ways but the most common is:
•During or within the course of adjusting a claim
•Preformed as an appraisal damage assessment or limited assignment
Appraisal (under the insurance policy coverage Appraisal clause/provision) If the insurance company and the insured disagree on the value of the property or the amount of loss, either may make written demand for an appraisal of the loss. The process is to determine the damage value amount of the loss by representation of both the insurer and insured by an impartial/unbiased appraiser selected by each – insurer and insured. The two appraisers will select a third appraiser/umpire for submittal of differences in the event they do not agree. A decision or agreement of either two appraisers on itemized differences will be binding for resolution.
